Chicken Biryani Recipe

Chicken Biryani is a popular South Asian dish made with basmati rice

chicken, aromatic spices, and herbs. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to make chicken biryani:

Ingredients – 2 cups basmati rice – 500 grams chicken (boneless or with bones) – 2 onions, sliced – 2 tomatoes, chopped – 1 cup yogurt – 1 tablespoon ginger paste – 1 tablespoon garlic paste – 1 teaspoon red chili powder – 1 teaspoon cumin powder

– 1 teaspoon coriander powder – 1 teaspoon garam masala powder – 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder – Salt to taste – Oil for cooking – 4 cups water – Few strands of saffron – Fried onions for garnish – Chopped coriander leaves for garnish

Directions :- Rinse the rice in water and soak it in enough water for 30 minutes. Heat oil in a pan and fry the sliced onions until golden brown. Remove and keep aside.

In the same pan, add the chicken and sauté until it turns golden brown. Add ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala powder. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.

Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy. Add yogurt and salt to taste. Mix well and cook for a few minutes until the chicken is fully cooked

In a separate pan, bring water to boil and add soaked rice. Cook until the rice is 80% cooked. Drain the water and keep aside. In a separate small bowl, soak a few strands of saffron in warm milk.

In a large pot, layer half of the cooked rice at the bottom. Add the cooked chicken on top of the rice and spread it evenly. Add the remaining rice on top of the chicken

Pour the saffron milk over the rice. Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid and cook on low heat for about 10-15 minutes. Turn off the heat and let the biryani sit for 10 minutes. Garnish with fried onions and chopped coriander leaves. Your delicious chicken biryani is ready to be served! Enjoy it hot with raita, salad, or pickle.
